Just the One

DUBLIN, IRELAND
July 2020

As pubs close during lockdown in Ireland, a group of filmmakers team up with local bands, in order to bring their original music back to the bars they love.

“Just the One” is a project started by independent documentary filmmaker Luke Brabazon, together with musician & producer Fin Divilly and filmmaker Slawek Bracki. The idea is to invite musicians and bands to perform in venues that they have a good and positive connection with. As these performances are captured, their further online release aims to reconnect these musicians with their former live-audiences, while sending their music further beyond, crossing the Irish border and into the massive stage that is the online world.

With two pieces released to date, the group continues their musical journey throughout Dublin, planning to release more of these intimate performances for the world to enjoy. While seeing these gigs take place in the empty bars of Dublin brings forward a somewhat nostalgic experience – it is also an example of how projects like these can help tradition adapt itself to the current times, warmly inviting us in, to have at least just the one.
